Shift Builds helps you organize evidence. It does not guarantee a car’s condition, document authenticity, ownership, or the accuracy of every entry.
Owner reported
Entered or corrected by the owner. Useful history, but not independently confirmed.
OEM reference
A published factory specification for a matched vehicle variant. It is not a measurement of this car, and modifications or wear may change the result.
Document supported
An uploaded document supports the stated detail. Automated extraction can check consistency, but cannot prove that the document is authentic or belongs to this car.
SB Verified
Reserved for a claim confirmed against a trusted source. Uploading a receipt, matching a make, or editing an OCR draft does not earn this label.
Needs review
A discrepancy, incomplete detail, or uncertain extraction needs attention. This is not an accusation of fraud.
What stays private?
Original document files, raw scan output, and your VIN are not part of the public passport. You can access your originals from your signed-in archive. A public entry can indicate that evidence is on file without exposing the invoice itself.
Review titles, notes, repair descriptions, shop names, dates, and costs before publishing: those record details can appear on a public or unlisted passport. Do not put addresses, payment details, or other private information in a public note. An unlisted link can be opened by anyone who has it; use private visibility for records you do not want to share.
You stay in control of the draft
Scan first, then review the category and editable fields before saving. If the document is unclear or scanning is unavailable, you can enter a record manually. Keep the original, describe what actually happened, and leave uncertain details blank.
